Description | A catalog of Disney films available for rental in 16mm in a private exhibition setting. The cover features Song of the South, available for the first time to rent. The inside summary states: "Discover the zip-a-dee-doo-dah world of Uncle Remus and all the critters as you enjoy the robust humor of America's favorite folk tales. The winner of two Academy Awards, this live-action and animated film brings Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear and Brer Fox, 3 of the funnist rascals ever created, to rollicking life. Like the original Uncle Remus stories upon which it was based, 'Song of the South' is a thoroughly enjoyable affirmation of the value of laughter in our lives." This particular copy comes from Canada, but there is nowhere in the catalog that specifies that this program was available exclusively to Canada. In fact, the fill-out forms use "State" and "Zip", not "Province" and such. Is it possible, then, that Song of the South WAS technically available for rent in the U.S.? The jury is still out on that one, but it's very possible. |
