Description This was a highly popular soundtrack album. It is essentially a "light" version of the 1956 album WDL-4001, containing almost all of the original songs from the movie, minus a few instrumental tracks. However, the earliest pressings from 1959 were actually identical to WDL-4001, and it wasn't until c.1963 that they removed the extra instrumental tracks.

Variations Record labels: This album was released in several different record label varieties (see pictures). The earliest is the red label (Style 1), which is actually a WDL-4001 record with a "DQ-1205" sticker applied over the old number. Style 2, yellow label, bears the same extra tracks but now has the correct record number. Style 3 is a pale yellow label with the extra instrumental tracks removed. Style 4 is the later rainbow Disneyland record. It is unknown why they reverted to the "DQ" numbering for this pressing.

Front Cover: There are a couple of variations to the cover art as well. Earliest pressings from 1959 have the Disneyland Records "High Fidelity" logo in the upper left corner. Later pressings simply have the Disneyland Records logo. "Printed in U.S.A." also appears in the lower right corner on later pressings.

Back Cover: There are also several variants of the back cover as well. The earliest versions have full color or black & white photos of other available soundtrack albums. Later pressings have black and white photos from the movie and a review from Song of the South. (Sharp-eyed collectors will note they misspelled "Uucle Remus" in the second paragraph).
